Joan McKern

Biography

My name is Joan McKern. I was born in Berkeley, California and received my BFA in painting at the University of Texas in Austin. Moving to Taos has allowed me to paint and enjoy the beauty of the sky and landscapes of New Mexico. I’m influenced by the color palette of the Fauve Artists of the 1920’s, the folk art of Thomas Hart Benton, the narrative of Edward Hopper and the themes of my own world.
