My art is inspired by the great Impressionist masters Degas and Toulouse-Lautrec; and Fauvist masters, Raoul Dufy, Andre Derain. I’m attracted to the way they used color and brushstrokes in their paintings. One stroke or one placement of color are so important for the painting to come alive. This and the culmination of vivid southwest landscapes with their clouds, mountains, and sage depictions tantalize the eye. I readily experiment with different mediums or surfaces so my style stays fresh and doesn’t get boring to me. My painting method is not technique-driven but rather letting the paintbrush dictate what I see and how it expresses itself on the surface.
